Economic Development

The Albin Community has a well-established tradition of uniting to accomplish community goals, and the community center is an excellent example of the community’s success. The Town appointed an economic development board to position the community for positive business and residential growth. The Albin Economic Development Board has established the following vision and goals:

VISION

Albin, Wyoming is proof that a rural community can offer exceptional opportunities for education, recreation, culture, and business growth.

GOALS

  1. Economy – Create an environment that encourages growth from new and existing businesses.
  2. Infrastructure
    • Continually upgrade water, sewer, streets, and waste removal services to serve current and future population.
    • Advocate for improved cell phone service and state-of-the-art technology.
    • Encourage community beautification through effective land use planning.
  3. Housing – Affordable, quality housing available to meet current and anticipated needs.
  4. Recreation & Culture – Offer activities and fully utilize facilities to make the community attractive to new residents.
  5. Education – Build on community strengths to create a positive learning environment for all ages.

To accomplish these overall goals for building a stronger community, the economic development program is centered on four essential strategies

  1. engaging and attracting youth
  2. mobilizing local leaders
  3. energizing and supporting entrepreneurs
  4. harnessing local private wealth

The Economic Development Board is following the Home Town Sustainability Model for establishing a community endowment fund. The fund, to be administered by the Wyoming Community Foundation, will be a perpetual resource for making strategic investments in the Albin Community. The endowment goal is $100,000. Economic development activities are currently sponsored by the Town of Albin, but the long-range economic development plan proposes that a public-private partnership be established with the formation of a Greater Albin Chamber of Commerce.
